About

Theologian, academic, and futurist Leonard Sweet has a catch phrase that he considers himself a “Tribal Methodist.” He means by that that he recognizes a broad spectrum of grace and spirit-led religious practice to be part of a “Greater Methodism.”

Passionate practicioners of grace-ful Holy Spirit-embracing faith are beginning to recognize that there is a wonderful unifying quailty to a common experience of the experimental religion practiced and taught by John Wesley. Students of Wesley soon understand that Wesley, the high church Anglican, had received his doctrinal perspectives from the 16th century theologian James Arminius. Wesley was mightily influenced by the German Moravians, lead by Count Nicholas Von Zinzendorf. As the centuries have advanced, the Wesleys have become most readily identified with the United Methodists, the broader body of Methodists, the Church of the Nazarene, and a number of other Holiness churches. There is a vast spectrum of other denominational and, increasingly, nondenominational, entities which share the seminal Arminian theology espoused by the Wesleys.

As the decades have advanced, various expressions of Wesleyan Arminianism has ebbed and flowed. In recent decades the mainline North American United Methodists have declined, as have the Methodists in Europe and England. However groups such as spirit filled Pentecostals and nondenominational Charismatics have surged in the past century. On a global level the United Methodists, which outside the U.S. have an almost Pentecostal zeal, are rapidly growing. The time is coming when all of these “Tribal Methodists” should begin to collaborate around a common vision for a world transformed in the image of Christ through the sanctifying power of His Holy Sprit. The bond that unifies is so much more important than an denominational labels that may occasionally separate us.

The purpose of the Armini.us website ministry is to unite all followers of the Arminian-Wesleyan doctrines of grace and God’s redeeming and transforming love. It is recognized that in this time of ever increasing information availability, it seems harder to obtain clear and easy access to the abundance of excellent information available. The vision here is to provide an ever more comprehensive destination site for all groups ministering in this world in a Wesleyan way.

This site has been initially developed and is maintained by the staff at Providence House Publishers in Franklin, Tennessee. We have been creating it in our spare time between publishing assignments. We have no special agenda and and are not trying to sell anything. We simply want the Kingdom to be advanced to the glory of God. We would love to hear from you if you have any coments and suggestions.
